Out of hundreds (literally) of comments, yours is the only one in that vein. I hope you find something more to your taste. Now that you offered advice, I have some for you. You could have had the courtesy to attempt to write me personally first. Usually when people want to post first, it says more about their own opinion of their own opinion. That is not the biblical way to handle things, but in any event, good luck. (and your crystal ball is malfunctioning--you have ZERO idea of the effectiveness to dispies, and I do--and you are quite wrong). Good luck in your quest.

Dee Dee,

Im an orthodox preterist, and I just listened to part 1 and 2 of your "kicking left behind" series.

I was hpoing for some witty critiques of the series, but mostly all you did was nit-pick narrative details in the story! Im sure you've managed to win ZERO dispensationalsts over to Preterism (even if your intention was not to convert dispies, you are still supposed to be sensible and have your conversation seasoned with grace). I found the podcasts intellectualy offensive and Im not even a dispy. You sound like a child, mocking disney cartoons for being unrealistic. Your critiques are actually as ridiculous as the books you're criticizing.

Forgive my harsh words, but you ought to get a spanking. Unfaithful theologies can always be refuted satirically and humourously. But all you've done is embarrass the proponents of the biblical truth you incidentally subscribe to.

Yes, LeftBehind deserves the wrath of God. That doesnt justify such an infantile and annoying approach. Stick to the theological position posited by the book, and destroy it biblically, without compromise, in truth, with gentleness and meekness- so as to correct its proponents and win them over to the truth.

Yours in Christ
Jaryd

Hi Dee Dee, I stumbled on you podcast while looking for some other Reformed podcast. My escatological views have just recently changed (grew up pre-mil dispensationalist) mostly as a result of reading Ken Gentry's books. So I was very interested in your podcast when I saw it. I would like compliment you on a work well done. You are very knowledgeable and you have a very pleasent voice for podcasting. In all graciousness the only negative thing is that I find the music very jarring (maybe that has to do with my age and taste in music). In closing I do appreciate your podcast and have found if very helpful. Shalom

this is barely in line with "Stay on topic", but you did mention that you've going to do your next book study on Daniel 7, so here goes...(I actually posted this a while back on the preterist site, but the post I commented on was probably too old)

I’ve been reading James B Jordan’s “The Handwriting on the Wall” and just got to the part about Daniel 7, and I had to do a double-take (if you can do that reading a book ;-). He points out that, while in Ezekiel the phrase “son of man” is used, in Daniel its “one //like// the son of man.” To make a long explanation short (and to avoid my massacring it), basically he’s saying Ezekiel was a type of Christ (the Son of Man), and he prophesied Christ’s ascension (Ezekiel uses the phrase “//on// the clouds") and Daniel 7’s “one //like// the son of man” refers to the ascension of the martyred saints (who come up //with// the clouds (not on them)) that would have happened at 70 AD. He links this all with Leviticus 16 where on the day of atonement (day of covering) the high priest goes into the holy of holies twice: the first time just him and his incense (clouds) symbolizing Jesus’ ascension, and a second time with a sacrificed goat, symbolizing the martyred saints who in Revelation are the ones under the altar waiting to finally “get to heaven”. If you have the book and haven’t read it yet its in chapter 14.

Another part of my shock was that Jordan says that the Ancient of Days refers to Christ, and he equates Christ with Yahweh, but not “God the Father”. I didn’t totally follow that part of the argument, other than he was saying that Christ was already enthroned at the right hand of God at 70 AD when the martyred saints finally rose. (I’ve always thought that Yahweh was synonymous with “God the Father”)

Anyway, I look forward to hear / read your take on this.

Hola, MostRad, thank you for the encouragement. Time already has done a good deal of work. Unfortunately you guessed right about the not sleeping part. I used to have insomnia, now I don't (praise God!) but I often forgo sleep to get stuff done. I am slowly getting out of that habit, though I do generally require less sleep than most as long as I can crash for over 12 hours on Friday nights, which I do faithfully each week. Sometimes even longer. I do much better with that kind of schedule than getting eight hours a day, which I don't need each day, and I LOVE the one day marathon.

I feel for you totally. I was dumped quite unexpectedly through similar circumstances. Then my dad died almost simultaneously. Panic attacks ensued and I just simply had to endure. I had no other choice.

All I can say is, believe it or not, but this too shall pass. It is now just a memory. I remember going through all the gut wrenching emotions of betrayal and pretty much the whole gamut. The emotions eventually subsided.

I am fairly callous about relationships now. I now seem to pick up on the discontentment in my friend’s relationships. This has put me more into a bond with Jesus as a result. I have learned that He really does care for me, and that my call is too important to dilute it with the affairs of the world (2 Tim 2:4).

Dee Dee, you are very valuable to the body of Christ. You are making a huge impact. I have no idea how you juggle all the things that you do. You must not sleep or something.

Anyways, I am rambling.

This tough time will be behind you someday.

Jesus Rules!

(Speaking of songs play “Don’t worry be happy” about a million times!)

Hi Karen, thank you so much!! God is so good. He brings uplifting and encouragement precisely when it is needed. Your words were very refreshing to me today. My name is spelled a bit bit different, it is Caryn. For the first time ever I work with another Karen, and it gets so confusing! My mother like to spell names in an unusual way.

Dee Dee, I wanted you to know that I am praying for you. God knows your heart of hearts and your desire to honor and give Him glory through this awful time. I just wanted to encourage you that you have been MOST instrumental in helping me to see God's Word CLEARLY. God's providence is strange at times because the way I stumbled on your podcast was that I thought you might be Rick Warren's wife or related..lol, so just one "click" brought me into the Preterist world which I never knew existed before the "click." I had so many unanswered questions over the years of the end times that no one could biblically or satisfactorily give me an answer especially with the whole Pretrib Rapture view. At first I was skeptical listening to you (knee jerk reaction to years of indoctrination) but open because my deep search for truth in all things and knew that God promised by His Holy Spirit that He would "lead me into all truth and things to come." My boys feared their future greatly because of the Dispensational, Antichrist, 666, 100 lb hail and blood flowing as high as a horse bridle wooden literal talk these days by ones like LaHaye and Hal Lindsey of the past and most preachers out there today, and and that disturbed me greatly as a mother of two young boys who want to follow Jesus with all their hearts. Well, here it is about a year later, with the help your podcast and some very intensive study of my own along with some others like DeMar and Gentry's eschatological teaching, I am TOTALLY convinced that the Partial Preterist view is the correct view of the end times. It makes sense and follows sound biblical hermeneutics and exegesis of scripture and solidly answers so many of the questions I had. There is a blessing noted in Revelation to those "who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it." I indeed understand what that blessing is and my children can simply look forward to the bodily second coming of their Lord Jesus and not running from a 666 tatoo on their forehead or 100 pound hail. It changes a persons whole perspective on God, life in Christ and world view. THANK YOU DEE DEE for your time and sacrifices you have made to further God's kingdom and to equip the saints. I cannot tell you what unspeakable eternal joy you have put in ALL of the members of my immediate family's heart!! THANK YOU again and are praying that His joy, peace and love will cover you fully and help you to heal and "restore the years that the locust have eaten." (Joel 2)

much love,
Karen ....I love your real name by the way. This one is my real name too =0D

Hi there, thank you for your encouragement. As a matter of fact, just this morning I started working on post-production for the episode that I recorded several months ago, just hadn't had time to do the fancy smancy stuff on it. Each time I start it seems that life hits me with another slam out of left field.

My friend Gavin Quill, who used to write frequently for the Forerunner, did a series on preterism in his church about a month ago. He wwas asked to present the preterist view, but the elders of the church had no idea that he would present it as though it were credible and it go a lot of discussion going. It's interesting too that in the message he says he always knew what preterism was, but never considered it too much until he was asked to do this presentation -- and in arguing the case he convinced himself that it was a lot more credible than he imagined.

On of the podcast messages resides here:

Part one is available only as notes (a glitch in the audio recording) with the whole series here:

Just though you should know since you are the collector of all things preterist. Since you are not doing the Podcast until you feel better, maybe people can listen to this instead?

Hi Sandra I checked out that site and would have just as many problems with it than with any pre-trib site. I also don't find it too helpful to call pre-trib the "apostasy of the Church." Last, I saw a positive reference to Jack Chick. Ummm, I am not a fan of Jack Chick, except for his unintentional humour.

PRETRIB RAPTURE RUSTLER

While you're wondering why everyone featured the "Tribulation Index" (using the essence and not the title) for 1800 years before a Nebraska "rustler" changed it into the "Rapture Index," check out "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty" on the "Powered by Christ Ministries" site. But gulp down some tranquilizers first!

Yet another gggggreat show. The character matters issue has always been one that hyperpreterists think they don't have to address. They claim it is a "fallacy" to talk about the character of a person. But here is the issue, if a person/group claims to have superior theology & yet that theology is not leading them to practice God-honoring living, then just how "superior" can it be? And before I hear a hyperpreterist claim it, they CAN'T compare failures within Christianity in general to what goes on within hyperpreterism. It is a matter of ratios.

Enjoyed the podcast, Dee Dee. You really touched the heart of Hyper-Pret behavioral trends. I also like what you said about being personally called by God to fight against this doctrine. I had someone write me the other day asking why I spend so much time battling H.P. My response was that God called me to this work.

Perhaps one of these days you'd consider coming on the "World of Prophecy."

Peace & Health,

Good news for the researcher. The SGP site is now back up for anyone to view. Why they keep closing it and opening it remains a mystery but today it is open after being shut for at least several days. I don't know how long that will last and remember caveat emptor whole threads and comments have been known to self-destruct, never to be seen again; such as the one where David Green was taking Jason Bradfield to task. Can't have that now can we.

So I cannot guarantee, and it would not surprise me, if any of the links or comments referred to no longer exist. I hope I don't ever have to get to the point that I have to take a screenshot of everything I see.

I am looking forward to the next episode which will NOT be about hyperpreterism.

I am the owner of TheologyWeb (with two others) which is a theology debate and discussion forum that you may wish to check out. There are a lot of orthodox preterists there.

Yes, I will acknowledge that a disproportionate number of creative content creators use Macs. Much to my chagrin :P. Actually, I don't mind admitting that Macs are better for that purpose than PCs. After all, "Since we have gifts that differ according to the [programming] given us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly." I don't mind Macs filling the niche of creative content creation, with PCs filling up the rest of the client OS market :)

Oh, and I said 24 is "sucky", not the fan podcast dedicated to the show. I bet the podcast rocks because it was created using a PC!

Thanks for the schooling on Podcast history. I was waxing intellectual for the sake of playful bickering. My ignorance has been sufficiently revealed :)

The official Fringe podcast is very good. I also like Wayne's Take on Fringe, and the Fringe Dwellers podcast. The last one though has some audio quality issues. The quality has improved, but there is still an issue IMHO with the levels between the two hosts, and I find myself going up and down with the volume control.

The Mac statistic is significant in part of the larger statistic that Mac users make up a disproportionately large segment of all creative fields, be it movie editing, photography, graphics, etc. This extends to podcasting.

Funny should you mention the 24 is "sucky" issue. That is the one podcast in which the hosts do not use Macs. Whoops, seems you stepped in it on that one.

Actually the reason that a disproportionate number of podcasters use Macs, besides the above, is because of GarageBand which comes natively with the Mac and is ideal out of the box for podcasting. Despite podcasting originating with the iPod (not true precisely but I know what you are getting at), that has nothing to do with podcasters. Most iPod users were and still are not Mac users. The halo effect was not at all in place at the beginning of podcasting. Additionally, iTunes was late to the podcasting game with its directory. Podcast directories prior to that were web-based and platform neutral. The only factor for which ubiquitousness plays a factor is in how podcasts came to be known as PODcasts rather than some other name. Very few of the users had Macs. The halo effect didn't take off in full force until Apple switched to Intel from PowerPC chips in 2005, and not really even until the end of 2006 which is when a really significant exodus was seen. I wasn't a Mac user until 2006 though I had been planning a podcast since 2005. I listened to podcasts on my Creative Zen. I didn't get an iPod IIRC until AFTER I got a Mac. I could be wrong on that, but I don't think so. I wasn't an iPod user for many years but a user of Creative's products. The Creative Zen was incompatible at first with Vista which is what caused me to consider a new player.

I really should subscribe to a Fringe podcast. I subscribe to a few Lost podcasts, so I'm definitely up for fan podcasts :)

As for your Mac statistics, big frenching deal :). To quote the bluejay who sent you the hate mail, 24 is "sucky" anyway. And as for podcasters? I fall back on my ubiquitousness argument. Podcasts originated with the iPod, which is still the dominant podcast player. It follows naturally that a disproportionate percentage of podcasters would use Macs. Give it time. As the world increasingly recognizes what a superior product Zune is, it will replace iPod as the quintessential music/podcast-playing device :) In fact, I think they'll have to replace the term "podcast" with "Zunecast".

My podcast subscriptions number around one hundred, which makes the fact that the MannersCast is my favourite even more significant. I wouldn't have suggested an Apple podcast simply because the ones I listen to aren't "entertainment" based but technologically based on Mac troubleshooting and the like, so of no use to someone who is not a Mac user. The MannersCast guys use Mac though. Yay Macs!

If you like technologically humourous shows, Techorama is awesome but they don't put out many episodes lately as one of the hosts has small children so that podcasting takes a backseat. They though are Apple-biased. Oh yay, they are the ones who did the 12 days of Christmas song, with the... Zune.

I also listen to fan-shows. For instance the 2 Guys Talking network has great fan podcasts on 24 and the Sarah Connor Chronicles. So whenever I get into a new show, I look for a fan podcast. It makes watching the shows even more enjoyable, but only that, very creative as theories are batted around. It makes TV not a mindless activity at all. I love Fringe so there are a few Fringe podcasts I listen to.

The majority of my podcast list is Apple-centric. Once you go Mac, you never go back ;) One of the Mac podcasts I listen to is Typical Mac User. The host used to be the host of Typical PC User. Guess what happened to him? Oops ;)

Some good general tech podcasts that are definitely not Apple fanboi ones are TWIT and Cranky Geeks.

Here is a random statistic for you. More than 30% of podcasters (no matter what the podcast subject matter is) use Macs. That is way out of proportion to the general usage percentage.

Hey on 24, it is awesome that all the bad guys use PCs and all the good guys use Macs ;) Fact.

Well I think you said it well in one of your "Kicking Some Left Behind" podcasts: As Christians, we're not supposed to be only interested in theology or spiritual matters. I think we're called--designed, even--to have a variety of other interests as well. These other interests help us interact socially with others in the community, developing friendships and bonds, with believers and unbelievers alike. They help us function in civilization, perform tasks and do jobs, etc.

My podcast collection is rather limited, I'm sad to say. I'm thrilled to have added Mannerscast :) I'm open to other suggestions, though Apple-focused podcasts are unwelcome.

I am glad you enjoyed it. A lot of people are surprised that my favourite podcast is not a theological podcast or a Mac podcast. There are a lot of my podcast listeners from TheologyWeb that are also Mannerscast fans. I too was almost in tears during the spanking the sofa episode. The comment about the crumbs geometrically inserting themselves into the fabric was the kicker with the mental image of Tetris.

It does take a certain quirky sense of humour to appreciate them, but I am pretty sure that anyone who thinks I am even somewhat funny would love them. Fact.

Boy you weren't kidding, Spanking the Sofa was hilarious! I was in tears I was laughing so hard, and even more so at the carful of referees story! Thanks, sincerely, for turning me on to the Mannerscast. They should fill the time nicely between episodes of the Preterist Podcast :)

Wow, what a j... bluejay! Yeah when I was in 7th grade I would have taken offense and called you a cyanocitta cristata had you described his grammar as being that of a 7th grader's. I think my 7-year-old son... No, I think my 3-year-old son writes better and makes fewer syntactical mistakes! I, however, am a dunce :)

Our passerine friend's obvious grammatical incompetence aside, you've got to admire his analogical creativity! See, you understated the majesty of his metaphor when you said he claimed you "have excrement coming out of the wrong end of my body." Dysentery, after all, is not merely excrement; it's inflammation, and ulceration, leading to mucous and hemorrhagic diarrhea. And what's more, people like myself are said to imbibe this loathsome cocktail! Wow, I'm just in awe of the volume of insult packed into that relatively small word!

As for this corvid's choice of operating system, sadly I must admit I think you're right that he uses Windows. However, that's really not saying much because Windows has the vast majority of the client operating system market. I'll grant you that, at least for the time being, it's a decreasing market share. Still, in terms of the average home user, I suspect Windows is even more ubiquitous among client operating systems than iPod is among music players! It's a fair bet that most orthodox preterists use Windows, and that a belligerent hyperpreterist or two uses a Mac!

Hi Lover of Unmentionable Abominations, what I am doing with followup questions is putting them on the agenda to cover when I get to a stopping point in the series. So I will put it in my folder of things to cover (I did receive the detailed email, thank you).

BTW, go check out the PreteristBlog for the hatemail I got since the author decided not only to insult me but also anyone who thinks I make any sense. Now, obviously insulting you for your choice in .... devices.... is okay; claiming we all have the skill level of a 7th grader is a bit over the top. I just know he uses Windows. I just know it. Harsh? Yes, but hey, you should see what pain he inflicted upon the English language. Yay for American public schools!

Another great episode in your commentary on the discourse. Thanks for the hard work! I was, however, left a bit wanting. Forgive me for my historical ignorance, but could you briefly describe how and when Isaiah 13, Ezekiel 32 and Isaiah 34 were fulfilled? I don't doubt that these prophesied events which have already taken place, but I'm woefully ignorant of middle east and Bible land history. When I share these passages with futurists, I would love to be able to explain when they were fulfilled.
