Ep. 19 is the twelfth of an ongoing verse by verse study of the Olivet Discourse as recorded in Matthew 24 and is intended to be an audio companion to the written commentary It’s Not the End of the World located at http://www.preteristsite.com/plain/warrenend.html. The topic in this episode is Matthew 24:23–26:
Matthew 24:23-26: Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.
And I am going to add. . .
Matthew 24:27-28: For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Preterist Podcast is part of a trio of resources for the study of orthodox preterism including The PreteristSite and The Preterist Blog. A more personal site, d-dizzle fo shizzle, is being worked on. Don’t visit yet - the theme sucks, and I need to change it. If you do not share my love of Xena, 24, and Apple - prolly not a place you will want to visit. Say it with me, “Spee-ree-toos nuh-toor-ee”. It’s a dead language, I know. Only the obnoxious or Zune twisted souls such as myself even think of using it anymore. Great show, Dee Dee.
Mr. DeMar really does himself and his ministry a diservice by not clearly and emphatically delineating the heretics from the orthodox. Here’s praying he does as such sooner rather than later.
God bless,

2 thoughts:
1. I really liked the way you handled the seriousness of hyperpreterism here and how it needs to be addressed. Eschatological heresy can destroy people and churches. There is a similar case of this in China with the Eastern Lightning cult. They believe that Matthew 24:27 refers Jesus coming back as a woman in China and spreading their gospel message. They take the phrase, “lightning flashes from the east to the west” to mean that the Messiah will come from China (the East) and go to the West. It’s absolutely ridiculous, of course, but the implications of this cult has done absolutely horrifying things over there. Eastern Lightning usually sends their cult members in as spies pretending to be Christians into orthodox churches to pick people out of them and this often resorts to kidnapping, brainwashing and torturing. I’m glad that hyperpreterists have not gotten to the point that Eastern Lightning has, but I am now seriously concerned since they are trying to buddy up to orthodox preterists like Gary DeMar in order to spread their heresy.
2. About Nero and technology. I would also like to point out that Nero highly enjoyed the theater as well. If I’m not mistaken, he was known for sneaking to the theater to watch plays.
