Ep. 3 is the third in an introductory series. In this episode I lay out the case for the importance of terminology in the eschatological debate between heretical preterism (hyperpreterism) and preterism. This podcast goes twice the length as my target length, so I recommend listening to half and returning to listen to the other half at another time. I go into great minutae on the history and rational behind the specific terminology that we use. The issue is very important, I thank you for your attention.
Links and resources:
Podictionary ~ the podcast I was recommending as one I enjoy. If you are a word-lover you will enjoy it as well.
SemANTICS: Perfuming the Hog ~ this is the main source article for this episode, however, please be aware that the information in to the episode is more current than the article as the landscape has changed somewhat. Please refer to the footnotes in this article for links to a great deal of the source material I reference.
The Allurement of Hymenaen Preterism:
The Rise of “Dispensable Eschatology” by Jim West.
Reformation or Retrogression: An Examination of the International Preterist Association’s Claims and Methodology by Dennis Swanson.
Charity Begins at Home by Dee Dee Warren.
And Yet More Heretical Spin-Doctoring by Dee Dee Warren ~ I note that the original link to the heretical article in that piece is broken, here is the new link - and no, no retraction of its falsity appears, though to be fair, this link is simply a reprint, the original link is broken - is that an admission of error or just the normal attrition of web link? I don’t know.
Back to the Futur(ists) by Dee Dee Warren with the updated comments located here.
2006 Interview with Roderick Edwards ~ a link to the audio file is on that page.
Audio file of my appearance on Gene Cook’s Unchained Radio can be found here on The PreteristSite.
Unfortunately the link for Tommy Ice’s “The Destructive View of Preterism” is no longer valid, but it can be found in print in The Conservative Theological Journal, 48, Volume 3 for the interested researcher.
Please visit The PreteristSite for more preterist resources, 100% heresy-free!
And I post here the warning I gave in the podcast. On my iTunes podcast page there are listed other podcasts that the iTunes engine poses as potential matches for other podcasts that my listeners might be interested in. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THEM. Each and every one of them is a hyperpreterist podcast. Unless you want to be poisoned by the wolves among the sheep.
And thank you Glenn for all the funny clips you provide for me. It is SO appreciated.
